A new, automatic bandsaw for cutting stock up to 260 mm diameter or square, said to have a very small footprint (1,755 x 2,149 mm) for a machine of this capacity, has been introduced by KASTO Ltd, Milton Keynes, a subsidiary of the German manufacturer. Called KASTOtwin A 2, the twin-column saw is fully enclosed by guarding which can be removed quickly for ease of blade replacement and servicing.
The machine features rigid, torsion free welded steel construction, a sturdy saw head, high precision saw band guides, and hydraulic clamping of the material at both sides of the blade, all of which promote accuracy of cut, extended blade life and quiet operation.
KASTOtwin A 2 is ideal for medium to large batch cutting of solids, tubes and profiles in mixed quantities using the same bi-metal bandsaw blade, eliminating production downtime for exchanging the blade. Up to 98 orders defined by length and number of pieces can be programmed and left to run automatically.
An array of accessories is available including hydraulic saw band tensioning, chip conveyor, low pressure spray coolant, layer and bundle clamping devices, and infeed and outfeed roller conveyors.
