The economic storage system Unitower C from KASTO Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG, 77855 Achern, offers compared to conventional storage on shelves, cantilever arms, on the floor or with stacking cradles a whole array of advantages. The storage system Unitower C is as universal and flexible as its name promises because, sheets, plates and flat products, pallets, Euro pallets and standard containers or also cases, boxes with tools, semi-finished products, supply parts as well as work equipment can be stored, removed or restored, depending on requirement.

The UNITOWER C stores universally

The storage system, type Unitower C, is especially suited for job shops, machine shops, small to medium sheet metal processing facilities or appropriate departments in production companies only using a small footprint but going up to 7 m in height to utilize the vertical space. It is principally designed as a sheet metal storage system but other products and items can be stored semi automatically or, as an option, fully automatically. The compact storage system has a footprint of 3.450 x 4.150 mm and allows the storage of  i.e. large sheets with different storage heights although the standard tower has a storage location every 47 mm. With a maximum system height of 7 m, standard pallets with different raw materials, semi-finished as well as finished products and containers are stored, retrieved and re-stored.

Using the UNITOWER C flexibly

The standard sheet metal pallets glide on almost wear free plastic-lined tracks when pushed-in or pulled-out of the storage location of the steel structure. The operating lift (a loading traverse that moves up or down), installed on the front side of the steel structure, moves up and down as well as pushes the pallet into and pulls the pallet out of the storage location. To determine different loading heights or the actual available space between stored pallets the storage system Unitower C can have, upon request, a height controller to check for up to three different loading heights. The rack structure of a Unitower C is made from standardized steel profiles with pre-punched holes allowing the end user to select the height and the number of storage locations for "his" tower.

The robust and long-lasting, efficient lift system works with a max. up and down speed of 8 m/min. Depending on design, pallets with a maximum usable load of either 1.200 kg or 3.000 kg are used. The lift moves the pallet reliably and accurately between the loading or unloading position and the storage location. The ergonomic height of the loading/unloading station is programmable and has the advantage, that, for example, sheet metal processing machines or transport carts can be directly loaded from the tower, saving labor while protecting the material. The control of a universal storage system Unitower C is the operator-friendly, machine-shop-friendly touch panel control of the KASTO-Basic Control. Depending on design, operation is semi-automatic (with acknowledgement key) or fully automatic with, of course, the appropriate safety units.
